Over 30 underaged boys have been rescued from an illegal initiation school as MEC expressed worry over the continued death of young boys.
Several shockers have hit Mzansi and people are worried about it. There have been growing concern for the safety of young boys in the country after 33 boys were recently rescued from an illegal initiation school.
The report was first shared by DispatchLive. According to SowetanLIVE, the MEC of cooperative governance and traditional affairs has also expressed worry over continued deaths of boys. According to the publication, on Thursday, 20 June, over 30 underage boys were rescued from an illegal initiation school in the Alfred Nzo district.
The reports also revealed that of the 33 initiates, a majority of them were schoolboys from the small town of Mzimvubu. They are said to have reportedly undergone the circumcision ritual without their parents’ consent or the proper documentation. This comes as a shock to many.
The revelation was made by Zolile Williams in Bhisho moments after he was sworn in for another term as MEC for cooperative governance and traditional affairs. In December last year, News24 reported that Zolile had denounced the deaths of Abakhwetha despite government efforts towards their safe passage to manhood. This was following reports that 19 young lives were lost at the time.
