900,000-Subscribers Loss For DStv Amid Competition From Netflix, Amazon Prime

It appears these are not the best of times for the MultiChoice network, the brains behind DStv, which has suffered a massive decline in its subscriber base as a result of stiff competition from Netflix and other players in the sector.

Multiple reports point to the network’s subscriber base having dipped from 27.3 million to 26.4 million, amounting to a net loss of about 900,000 subscribers. This figure covers all regions.

The DStv network offers multiple packages to subscribers to cover their needs and preferences, ranging from DStv Premium, Compact Plus, Compact, and Family, among others.

The decline in its subscriber base terms in part from the fierce competition from the likes of Amazon Prime and Netflix, as well as its pricing, which some people have been complaining about.

However, it is not the first time the network has experienced a decline in its subscriber base. Only, this time, the number was substantial and made the news across the Rainbow Nation.

The question now is, which way for DStv? Will the brand manage to snag back the subscribers it has lost and even increase its subscriber base amid the fire competition? That’s one question that time will surely answer. So stay tuned if you please.
