Alberton Clinic Nurse And Accomplice Charged With Murder

A Gauteng nurse arrested in connection with the death of her domestic worker and an R6 million insurance claim told the woman’s relatives that she was assassinated by an angry community that accused her of being disruptive.

This is reported to the uncle of Busisiwe Nxumalo, Njabulo, who claimed to have been contacted by nurse Sithembile Happiness Xulu informing him of his niece’s murder in January 2022. Outside the Lenasia magistrate’s court, where Xulu and her co-accused, gardener Simon Mogale, appeared, Njabulo was giving a speech. A bail hearing for them has been scheduled for July 3.

TimesLIVE, the sister publication of Sowetan, reports that Nxumalo was discovered dead at a dumpsite not far from Xulu’s former residence in Lenasia South. Someone had slit her throat. She obtained life insurance policies in her name from three different insurers, but due to suspicions of fraud, the policies were frozen.

According to Njabulo, Xulu allegedly acquired approximately R700,000 in funeral policies from various banks, as reported by one of Durban’s insurance companies. He claimed that despite Xulu’s repeated requests to meet with him at the Orange Farm morgue and regular communication with him, she never did and would not return his calls.

He claimed that the woman had initially asked to meet him at the morgue to see the body, but she had never showed up.
