When you are an important voice in music – or any other industry for that matter – your tales are likely to ignite debate from people in the same industry as you, some of whom might be close to you.
Any doubt about his was rented asunder in South Africa’s music space recently, with celebrated lyricist Stogie T sharing his thoughts on some top musicians on the global stage.
Of special focus were his words: “They are not Lupe, Lupe is special, AESOP ROCK is special, Jay-Z is special, Nas is special. Kendrick is alright, Cole is alright. Kendrick is not better than me.” In those words, he acknowledged the brilliance of some artists while also illuminating his position as a musician with robust lyrical sinews.
Those words of his caught the attention of Priddy Ugly, who seemingly made light of things while pointing out that someone had asked him about what Stogie T said about some rappers. Well, he was more than happy to share just that. Whatever you make of his response is entirely up to you. See it below.
