ASAP Ferg’s Changes Name While Releasing New Single As Fans Speculate His Ties To ASAP Mob

The second-biggest member of ASAP Mob is ASAP Ferg. Since he made his breakthrough first, Rocky will always be the biggest among them, but Ferg showed that the group could endure. Regarding productivity and guest appearances, he has been the most reliable member of ASAP Mob. Well, he was, anyhow. With the release of his new track, “MDMX,” the rapper’s fans have observed that he is credited as “Ferg” rather than “ASAP Ferg.” Due to this, his possible permanent departure from the team has been the subject of much conjecture.

Years of conflict between Ferg and ASAP Mob led to the name change. According to a number of workers, the rapper was said to have left the group in 2020. Still, ASAP Nast made this clear on X (formerly Twitter), saying Ferg was heavily involved in their songwriting. Sounds good, right? He released Floor Seats II, his second album, under the moniker ASAP Ferg. The abrupt name change is especially startling because Ferg hasn’t released much music in recent years. The “ASAP” prefix has never been removed from Ferg’s official credit. The uninitiated enthusiast may deduce that this is a noteworthy alteration.

Not as damning as it would seem, but significant. In October 2021, Ferg announced his name shortening. Through Roc Nation, he released a statement outlining his strategy and assuring fans that there is no conflict between ASAP Mob and the name change. “Ferg is very much still part of the mob and is A$AP Ferg within the A$AP Mob,” the statement stated. “Ferg, as an individual artist and with his solo career, is Ferg.”

Ferg’s actions since making the announcement have supported this. He reunited with ASAP Rocky to preview a snippet of an unreleased song on Instagram. Fans hope he appears on Rocky’s new album, Don’t Be Dumb. ASAP Ferg also told High Snobiety that he could never envision a time when he wasn’t involved with the mob. “I don’t think there’s no breaking up of the mob,” he explained. “It’s like, you can’t get out once you’re in the mob. This is blood in, blood out. You can never get out of the mob. So that’s not even a thing.”
