Ayra Starr Debuts On The Billboard 200 Album Chart

Ayra Starr has now become Nigeria’s first female musician to debut on the Billboard 200.

With the release of her sophomore album, “The Year I Turned 21,” Ayra Starr has been leading the way and breaking chart records. Another significant achievement for the Grammy-nominated vocalist was that her single “The Year I Turned 21” debuted at No. 195 on the Billboard 200 following 8K units sold in its first week of release.

With this achievement, Ayra Starr makes history as the first Nigerian musician to debut an album in the charts. The Year I Turned 21 by Ayra Starr has received recognition for its masterful blending of genres and rich musical offers ever since it was released on May 30, 2024. With 1.2 million Spotify Nigerian streams on its first day, the album smashed the record for the most opening day streams by a Nigerian artist.

At 6.3 million plays on the first day of its release worldwide, she also broke the record for the most album streaming by a female Nigerian artist. Ayra Starr has had meteoric success since becoming well-known in Nigeria, where her music has won her multiple firsts in the country’s music business.

Her smash tune “Rush” is the only song by a Nigerian female singer to be certified diamond in France and has the highest views of any music video by a Nigerian female artist.
