Charlamagne Tha God Addresses Tyla’s Interview Controversy

Tyla’s dramatic debut at Breakfast Club on June 13 was recently made public by Charlamagne Tha God.

As per Charlamagne’s recent statement, the team managing the South African singer had a set of questions they preferred him not to ask. However, the animated presenter had other ideas. On the podcast Brilliant Idiots, Charlamagne revealed the juicy details. As per The Shade Room, he claimed that Tyla’s team requested him to steer clear of certain themes.

Some things were off-limits, including her recent injury, her decision to tour without Chris Brown, and her relationship with Kai Cenat. Her identification as “coloured” and comparisons to other painters were inappropriate as well. Unafraid of confrontation, Charlamagne answered sharply.

He informed Tyla’s management that he had work to do and that he would still ask the questions. The radio host clarified that he instructed her team to either have Tyla ready for certain subjects or to just call off the interview. According to The Nerd Stash, one of the things that makes Charlamagne such a captivating interviewer is his bluntness.

He didn’t back down from challenging inquiries, even if they would cause some agitation. During the actual interview, Charlamagne did indeed touch on the unacceptable issues. He questioned Tyla what it meant to be “coloured” in South Africa, which was one especially striking moment. With evident discomfort, the singer cast a quick glance at her management.

“Can we not, por favor?” said an off-camera voice. Charlamagne remained resolute and subsequently said that he would not remove that particular segment from the interview. Tyla used Instagram to explain her position after the interview aired.
