Diamond Platnumz Exceeds Over 400M Streams On Boomplay

Tanzanian musician and entrepreneur, Diamond Platnumz, just passed 400 million streams on Boomplay, a streaming service geared toward the African continent.

With this feat, he not only solidifies his status as a major player in the music business, but he also becomes the first artist from East Africa to do so. The bongo flava musician is the first to reach 100, 200, and 300 million plays on Boomplay, shattering previous streaming records in the process.

His most recent achievement is evidence of his ongoing appeal and capacity to engage with followers both within and outside of the continent. The success of Diamond Platnumz goes beyond Boomplay. Since joining YouTube in 2011, he has amassed around 9 million subscribers and 2 billion views.

He has also racked up an astounding 142 million plays on Audiomack and over 300 million Spotify streams. Notable musicians from the East African region, Rayvanny and Zuchu, are also getting close to reaching the 300 million streams mark on YouTube. While Nandy and Alikiba have each hit 100 million streams, Mbosso and Jay Melody have each reached 200 million streams.

In the meantime, Harmonize, the former WCB Wasafi signee of Diamond Platnumz, has released Muziki wa Samia, his fifth studio album, in honor of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan. President Hassan was the special guest during the project’s unveiling on May 25th, which was attended by notable members of the entertainment industry, actors, singers, and politicians.
