DJ Akademiks Rubbishes Rumored “Drake Release”

Over the last few months, hip-hop fans have been treated to a thrilling feud between two of the genre’s biggest stars, Drake and Kendrick Lamar. The two rappers have been dissing each other, trolling on social media, and boosting sales of hip-hop music to new heights. However, the rollout of their respective diss tracks has been chaotic due to misleading information and AI-generated decoys, making it increasingly difficult for fans to separate fact from fiction. As a result, fans must remain vigilant and exercise caution when consuming information related to this feud.

DJ Akademiks has come to the rescue to provide some clarity. On May 2, DJHed announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Drake would be dropping a response to Lamar’s “Euphoria” and even confirmed the same later. Drake was seemingly jumping on the opportunity and was dropping his response just a few days after “Euphoria.” However, it turned out to be untrue, and DJ Akademiks stepped in to shed some light on the matter.

DJ Akademiks tweeted DJHed’s original post and wrote, “CAP.” He then appeared on Kai Cenat’s May 2 livestream and denied that Drake was dropping a response track. When Cenat asked him about the rumour, DJ Akademiks stated that “there ain’t nothing dropping tonight, man,” and dismissed the source of the rumour outright, claiming that DJHed had passed on bad information to get in the mix with the news. Though DJ Akademiks has been wrong about several of his claims and predictions throughout the battle, he has attempted to be unbiased and straightforward in his approach. He did not tease Cenat with any other rumour or hint at when the diss song would be coming; he denied it was dropping that night.

DJ Akademiks has come under fire for claiming that Drake’s “Push Ups” is a better diss song than Lamar’s “Euphoria,” but he has tried to keep his bias out of the situation. He has been counting the days that Drake hasn’t responded, just as he did with Lamar. The Toronto rapper was applying pressure to K. Dot when it was his turn to drop, which lends credence to the idea that Drake would drop on May 3. However, it turned out that the theory was not true, and the wait for Drake’s response continues.
