Dolly Parton Announces New Documentary And Album, “Smoky Mountain DNA”

Iconic American singer Dolly Parton is excited to announce the imminent release of Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith & Fables, an unparalleled examination of her rich family legacy in partnership with Owepar Entertainment.

A four-part companion documentary series is currently under production. November 15th is the release date; a pre-order will go live on June 21st along with the publication of the entire tracklist and the first two instant grat tracks from the collection. The album will be accessible through digital download and streaming, as well as vinyl and CD.

Smoky Mountain DNA will highlight the long-lasting impact of two families: the Owens, Dolly’s mother’s side of the family, and her paternal Parton line. The project follows their journey from the 1600s in the United Kingdom to their current residence in East Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains. Through this release, audiences will discover the unique legacy that has been preserved and echoed in the music and colorful culture of Appalachia.

The record, which was produced by Dolly’s cousin Richie Owens, has songs sung by several generations’ worth of Dolly’s close and extended relatives. In addition to modern contributions from the current generation, other recordings feature the voices of cherished departed family members. These records honor not only their rich musical heritage but also the strong ties to their families and the cultural customs that have influenced their life.
