E.Tv’s New Drama Series To Feature SA Icons Jerry Phele And Dumisani Dlamini

Leading man Jerry Phele makes a comeback to television with the weeknight e-tv drama Smoke & Mirrors. Veteran actor Dumisani Dlamini, the father of US rapper and singer Doja Cat, well known for his part in Sarafina, is joining another project on the channel. He described joining the show and bringing his character to life as a “joyride.” Dlamini, who brings much expertise to the ensemble, will contribute significantly to the new TV drama series. His appearance will undoubtedly change the show’s dynamic and enthral viewers again.

Even though he is no longer in Emzini Wezinsizwa, veteran actor Jerry Phele is still hilarious in his most recent role, the e.tv weekday drama Smoke & Mirrors. On June 24 at 21:00 on Monday, Phele makes his stage debut. Jerry is the name of his character, too. Fans of Phele’s earlier work might expect a hint of nostalgia from his depiction of Jerry, which is set to showcase his comedic timing and charm. As he keeps captivating audiences with his talent, they can anticipate seeing him in a fresh light.

A statement on the cast role read as,

“When Jerry enters through the doors of Martha’s (Lusanda Mbane) hotel, he’s swarmed by people who immediately recognise him and want to rub shoulders with him,”

“Little do they know that Jerry is a swindler, and his whole scam is that he claims he’s in Emnyameni to shoot a movie.”

“Petunia (Kgaogelo Monama) realises that Jerry’s movie could be a hoax as he fails to settle his hotel bills and Jerry’s cover risks being blown.”

Final Chapter Productions stated that choosing Phele’s cast was a “no-brainer”.

“We needed a light-hearted story to serve our long-running story within a story, and Jerry fit the mould,”

“Jerry enters our world as a famous movie producer/director and claims to be in Emnyameni to film his latest project, but we soon learn this is a hoax.”

Meanwhile, Phele called her experience on the show a “joyride”.

“I’m playing a character that’s so familiar to me, and it also helps that he is actually named after me,”

“I can’t wait for viewers to share a little bit of laughter with us as this story unfolds.”

Dumisani Dlamini is another seasoned actor participating in a production on the channel. He premieres on Isitha: The Enemy on Tuesday, June 25, at 21:30 as Ntsimbi. According to a release, Dlamini’s character was raised in a monarchy and, at age 21, rose to chief in a small KZN hamlet. Following the death of his mother, Ziphora, he was reared by Chief Ngomezulu, a single father, and he inherited his father’s passion for the village and its animals.

Despite his father’s moral character, Ntsimbi turned to crime for quick cash, surreptitiously planning heists, hijackings, and cab murders around KZN. Despite his brutal tactics, Ntsimbi keeps a low profile in the public eye and hides his illicit activities with a devoted group of young guys who carry out his dirty work. Supporters of the two performers will watch and witness their idols perform in their separate performances.
