GoodLuck’s Juliet Harding And Ben Peters Share Their Dramatic Birth Story As They Welcome A Baby Daughter

The path of renowned electronic band GoodLuck, from their live performances to the birth of their daughter, has been filled with unexpected events.

The band’s live gender reveal, which revealed to the sold-out audience that members Juliet Harding and her partner Ben Peters were expecting a baby girl, stole the show during a Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset concert in March. The musicians recently shared how happy they are to be starting a new chapter in their lives as parents: Skylar Scout Lulu Peters, their daughter, was born on June 20.

Her birth did not, however, come without difficulties. Harding, who plays in the band alongside Tim Welsh and Peters, recently shared the narrative on Instagram. The musician revealed that the journey took an unexpected turn even though they were ready for a calm home birth. She stated in the post that a hospital transfer was required due to labor problems.

After speaking with their gynecologist, Harding described how her waters broke and level two meconium—a newborn’s initial stool—was found. This led to a hospital transfer. This resulted from a build-up of alarming symptoms, such as elevated blood sugar, the presence of meconium, and an abundance of fluid surrounding the infant.

Harding’s team at the hospital, consisting of her gynecologist, a doula, and a midwife, supported her desire for a natural birth while putting the safety of the unborn child first. Sadly, Skylar started to show signs of distress by having a lower heart rate.

Harding was given two options by the medical staff: a “gentle Caesarean section” or a typical delivery with significant hazards. Harding finally decided to have a C-section even though she was initially opposed to it in order to protect her daughter.
