Hearing Postponed In Luke Fleurs Murder Case

Life is beautiful, and given the chance, most people would want to live forever. But that is rarely the reality on the ground. People are killed. People die young, with those they left behind reeling from the pain of it all.

South African footballer Luke Fleurs is a sterling example. He had a promising career ahead of him and had just moved to Amakhosi when death came knocking.

He was hijacked and murdered on April 3, outside a police station. The incident reverberated across South Africa, bringing to the fore the spectre of hijackings that have enveloped the country.

An investigation was opened into the case soon after, with the authorities making a couple of arrests. The six suspects arrested in connection to the killing of the football made an appearance at the Roodepoort Magistrates Court on June 27 and applied for bail.

The hearing into the case was postponed to August 2024, with anticipation already building.
