ID Cabasa Enlists Joeboy, Boj, Fireboy DML, And Odumodublvck To Refix Styl-Plus’ 2006 Hit, “Olufunmi”

Prominent Nigerian music producer and executive, ID Cabasa, has enlisted Nigerian musicians Joeboy, Fireboy, Odumodublvck, and Boj to rework Styl-Plus’ 2006 hit track, “Olufunmi.”

In a conversation with Adesope on the Afrobeats Podcast, the celebrated producer revealed this information. The hit-makers Fireboy & Joeboy, alternative music legend Boj, and chart-topping rapper Odumodublvck will collaborate on the “Olufunmi” remake, which promises to be an exciting retelling of one of Nigeria’s most popular songs in pop culture.

The song “Olufunmi” is from Styl-Plus’s wildly popular 2006 debut album, “Expressions.” The highly anticipated ‘Olufunmi’ remake, which stars Vector, will be the second reworked song ID Cabasa releases following 9ice’s ‘Photocopy’ remake. The legendary producer of some of the most important tracks in Nigerian mainstream music, such as 9ice’s iconic sophomore album, “Gongo Aso,” and Olamide’s breakthrough single, “Eni Duro.”

A new album by ID Cabasa, who has collaborated with a number of well-known musicians like 9ice, Olamide Baddo, Wizkid, Reminisce, Bella Shmurda, and Vector, would be released, he revealed during the interview. Many huge guest musicians are anticipated to be on ID Cabasa’s upcoming album.

ID Cabasa spoke on the trend of Nigerian musicians breaking away from Afrobeats, saying that while it’s acceptable for musicians to name their music anything they want, they shouldn’t damage the genre’s reputation in the process.
