Many hearts were warmed by a video that went viral on Instagram featuring Kairo Forbes, the daughter of late rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and South Africa’s top female deejay, DJ Zinhle, visiting the 5FM studios. Recently, Kairo celebrated her second Father’s Day without her father, AKA, who was shot and killed early last year in front of a restaurant on Florida Road, a popular thoroughfare in Durban.
Since then, Kairo’s mother has expressed gratitude to her stepfather Bongani Mörda Mahosana for taking charge and demonstrating love and care for the soon-to-be nine-year-old. Kairo’s fame stems from more than just her famous parents. In addition to co-owning the Era Kids watch and bracelet brand with her mother, the third-grader also serves as a brand ambassador for many other companies, including Cotton On and Nedbank.
