King Misuzulu kaZwelithini’s Injunction To Izinduna During Elections

The elections of May 29 this year saw several political parties try their best to win the votes of the electorates. Of course, around this period, things are usually heated, but things appeared to have gone on well this time, with King Misuzulu kaZwelithini playing his path as king of the Zulus.

The monarch had instructed Izinduna to report any attempts to foment trouble in hostels or otherwise instigate violence or lawlessness following the elections.

This was contained as part of a statement issued by Thulasizwe Buthelezi, the Traditional Prime Minister to the Zulu Nation and the king.

King Misuzulu kaZwelithini also commended the political parties for conducting themselves in a manner that did not provoke violence, as well as praised the electoral body, IEC, for a free and fair election in the country.

As a monarch, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini is expected to be impartial – politically neutral so to speak – only urging all parties involved to conduct themselves within the ambit of the law, pursuing peaceful avenues all the way.

By the way, this election cycle, the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party was able to pull off a political coup of sorts, beating the ruling African National Congress (ANC) in a couple of areas, including KwaZulu-Natal.
