Lawrence Maleka Set To Charm In Netflix’s New Rom-com, Lobola Man

Making his acting comeback, Lawrence Maleka stars in Netflix’s brand-new romantic comedy Lobola Man, which opens in theatres next month. Produced by Burnt Onion Productions, the same team behind Netflix’s critically acclaimed How to Ruin series, the film tells the tale of a young man attempting to win over the woman he loves while navigating the complexities of lobola negotiations. With his captivating performance, Lawrence Maleka will capture audiences’ attention and offer a novel take on this well-loved genre.

Thembsie Matu, Sandile Mahlangu, Kwanele Mthethwa, Primo Baloyi, and Sthandile Nkosi are all included in the cast. Lawrence Maleka, the multi-award-winning actor, presenter, and heartthrob, is returning to television as the shrewd chief lobola negotiator in the upcoming romantic comedy Lobola Man.

The Ramaphakela siblings of Burnt Onion Productions, well-known for the How to Ruin franchise, are the creators of the Netflix movie. Coming to theatres on July 12, Lobola Man stars Ace Ngubeni (Maleka), a shapeshifter who poses as an uncle, brother, and cousin to provide intricate, “professional” lobola negotiation services. A humorous and touching adventure full of surprises and comedy awaits viewers as Ace navigates the complications of love and tradition. Fans of romantic comedies should not miss Lobola Man, which has a brilliant cast and an innovative crew behind it.

Ace has an unwavering success rate but has one rule: he never gets close to the bride or her family. Ace works in the romantic industry, but despite this, he is an arrogant bachelor who doubts love itself and gets caught up in the eyes of a stunning woman one night out. To move on from her, Ace accepts a new client, Duke Maseko (Sandile Mahlangu), who asks for assistance negotiating a lobola for his fiancée, Zandile (Kwanele Mthethwa). As Ace works through the difficulties of lobola discussions, he encounters unexpected feelings and predicaments that make him reevaluate his views on relationships and love. Lobola Man humorously and poignantly examines topics of tradition, modernity, and the universal search for love.
