Man Accused of Killing Pastry Chef Letlape To Face More Charges

The boyfriend who is accused of killing pastry chef Letlape is reportedly facing more charges.

The South African reports that Siboniso Zitha, the boyfriend and man accused in the murder case of Pastry Princess chef Thembekile Letlape, has abandoned his bail application.

On Friday, 21 June, he reportedly appeared before the Randburg Magistrates’ Court, and was served with a provisional charge sheet. He was also there to arrange a date for his bail application hearing.

Phindi Mjonondwane, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Gauteng regional spokesperson shared in a statement that the state has added two more charges. They include outstanding counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and a charge of malicious damage to property.

The charges were laid by his ex-girlfriend in November 2022. The South African reports that they will be consolidated with the murder charge.

“The state will further pursue an additional charge of perjury against Zitha for allegedly lying to the court about having pending cases against him, in contravention of Section 60(11)(b) of the Criminal Procedure Act,” said Mjonondwane.

The publication also writes that a video of Zitha seemingly confession to murdering his girlfriend Letlape has been making rounds on social media. A cuffed Zitha is heard confessing that ‘what he did’ was a mistake.
