Man Gets Fatally Stabbed in Johannesburg Court Holding Cell

A man gets fatally stabbed in a Johannesburg waiting cell.

According to a recent report by SowetanLIVE, The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) has opened an investigation into the death of a 30-year-old man. It is believed that the man was a member of the Fast Guns gang and was allegedly fatally stabbed in a holding cell at the Johannesburg magistrate’s courts.

According to further reports, the man died after he was allegedly attacked by a rival group on Tuesday while in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court Holding Cell. According to to Ipid police were transporting prisoners from Johannesburg Prison to the court in the morning. The Ipid spokesperson Phaladi Shuping said,

“On arrival at Westgate court‚ prisoners alighted from the trucks. They were put in the waiting area before going to court. While waiting for police to take them to court‚ a fight allegedly broke out between two rival gangs‚ the Vardos and the Fast Guns.”

According to him, the victim passed away at the scene. Ipid is currently investigating the case as it is a death in police custody. Not much information has been shared about the man’s passing, but Ipid will keep the media updated when there is more to share.
