Netizens Refuse Mogul’s Apology As “No Diddy” Trends

In response to the now-viral video of him hitting his ex-girlfriend Cassie, Diddy released an official statement. CNN unveiled an exclusive video of Diddy and Cassie in a hotel in 2016, and it went viral late last week. Many people, calling it the smoking gun supporters needed to convince them of his guilt, have been sharing the unsettling video online. The singer is shown being pulled to the ground, kicked, and attempted to be dragged back to the founder of Bad Boy Records’ room in the video. In addition, he tosses her what looks to be a glass vase.

Cassie filed a lawsuit against Diddy in November of last year, alleging various wrongdoings, such as physical and sexual abuse. The case has since been settled. Although the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office states that the event happened “beyond the timeline where a crime of assault can be prosecuted,” the video seems to support some of her claims.

Diddy broke his silence for the first time since the graphic footage surfaced online, apologising for his actions.

“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” he said. “I was f*cked up — I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted then when I did it. I’m disgusted now. I went and I sought out professional help, I got into going to therapy, going to rehab. I had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to be a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry.”

Social media users are overwhelmingly rejecting the mogul’s apology. The phrase “No Diddy” is currently trending on Twitter, with numerous commenters expressing their disapproval of his recent response. Many are also insisting that Cassie truly deserves an apology, and they are not pleased that he failed to address her directly in his post. Some call for a boycott of his brands and music, while others question his apology’s sincerity. The backlash continues to grow as more people weigh in on the situation.
