In politics, open letters are nothing novel. While they are not written ir issued all the time, they still appear. For one reson or the other, peopldecided that an open letter is their best bet to pass a message across,
This is usually done to the public kniws where the writers of such letters stand on critical public issues and other areas of national life. From Nigeria to South Africa. letters have been written.
The latest, though, comes from South Africa and it has got the attention of many across the Rainbow Nation. It was written by none other than Instagram user Phapano Phasha and addressed to some of South Africa’s famous women leaders like Lindiwe Sisulu, Limpho Hani, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma and Makaziwe Mandela.
In the letter, Phasha wondered why the ladies are keeping quiet as Ramaphosa seemingly hands over the country back to the whites – the same people that leaders like them had fought in the apartheid era.
She went ahead to denounce the ANC as a rudderless political ,movement and one that has wasted all the gains made with the end of apartheid three decades ago.
The letter was long and echoed the view of the likes of former judge John Hlophe.
Will the ladies addressed act on what was written? Time will tell.
