Gone but not forgotten, That phrase summarises the life of South African rapper Kiernan Jarry Forbes, who is more famous by his adopted stage name AKA.
The songster was shot to death at point-blank range on February 10 soon after he came out of Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban. Killed with him was his former manager Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.
AKA’s death shocked many across South Africa and beyond because no one saw it coming. It also provoked anger from a section of the Rainbow Nation because he died violently, with his blood pouring like a fountain, as he collapse to the floor.
When his family announced his memorial and funeral and also noted that limited tickets were available for those who wanted to attend, South Africans scrambled to get tickets and they sold out in hours.
