It takes someone who has been in hell to understand the dangers and to turn others about the same, right? That’s just as right, you will find out if you care to pay attention at all.
Take Portia Modise, for instance. The former Banyana Banyana star narrowly escaped the terrors of drug addiction and alcohol abuse. Now, she’s in a better place to educate the youth on the dangers and stir them away from the path of destruction.
Thus it wasn’t surprising that she was co-opted as a part of the Clinix Health Group’s awareness campaign on substance abuse disorders. The campaign had a dialogue session and was part of World Drug Day in Soweto.
In her place as part of Clinix, Modise gets to meet many young people and advise them on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and stir them from the paths of destruction.
She couldn’t be happier in her new role which allows her to show people the light, as well as direct them through paths that would keep them from one mental or health challenge or the other.
In this initiative, her compatriots have been largely supportive. But for Portia, this is only the beginning.
