Renowned Kwaito artist Professor is preparing for a remarkable comeback, seeking to capture the same magic that catapulted his 2010 smash hit “Jezebel” to success. The 46-year-old musician, known by his real name Mkhonzeni Langa, enjoyed commercial triumphs as a solo artist with chart-topping singles like “Imoto,” “Lento,” “Fingerprints,” “Speaker,” and “Unobenga.” However, his prominence dwindled in late 2016. Almost a decade later, Professor reveals that he utilized this time to reflect and rejuvenate. Collaborating with a new team, he aims to reintroduce himself to a fresh generation with a modern and versatile musical style.
“I am excited to be back in the industry and it still feels like I never left. I’m also looking forward to dominating the space again,” he said
“As a creative person, time away from the industry and not being active meant I was not doing what I was born to do. So, as much as I wasn’t in the forefront, musically, I remained as creative as possible.”
Before joining the music duo T’Zozo and Professor, he was part of a family group with his siblings and fellow Kwaito artist Character, known for his hit song “Ex-ongasolveki.”
