One of the news items that have preoccupied South Africans for the past few days has been the destruction by fire of the home of actress Innocent Sadiki. More details are emerging on what happened and what was lost.
In a recent observation about the fire, Innocent’s town sister Millicent Mashile gave a clue into the whole disaster, noting that the home was worth R3 million and the properties lost had a value of about R2 million, totalling a loss of R5 million.
According to Millicent, nothing was saved from the home. Before the fire, Innocent claimed that her sister and her husband had renovated the home and made it homely for themselves and their children but the fire wasted all their efforts.
Now they have to raise money from the public so they can have a home again. The fire had reportedly engulfed the house while the children were home with their father alongside their house help. Fortunately, everyone was able to get out before the fire spread and burned the place.
It is unclear how much has been raised so far and if Innocent and her husband would be able to raise the sum they have in mind to build another home. Time will tell.
