Tems Establishes A New Record On Spotify For A Female Nigerian Musician

Tems emerges as the female Nigerian artist with the biggest Spotify streaming day.

Tems had her greatest Spotify streaming day on June 7, 2024, the day after her debut album “Born In The Wild” was released. Tems broke the record for the most streaming for a Nigerian female artist on June 7, 2024, thanks to the release of her debut album, “Born In The Wild.”

Tems recorded 5.33 million worldwide streams on the first day of her debut album, placing her second only behind Ayra Starr, who recorded 6.3 opening day streams for her newly released sophomore album, “The Year I Turned 21.”

Tems has become one of the world’s fastest-rising musicians since her stunning contributions to Wizkid’s worldwide smash song “Essence” brought her international success in 2021. Her much-awaited debut album, “Born In The Wild,” features 18 tracks, including two co-writes with American rapper J Cole and Nigerian musician Asake.

Tems released two singles ahead of the album’s release, “Me & U” and “Love Me Jeje,” which have amassed over 99 million and 32 million streams, respectively. Her superstar status is demonstrated by the popularity of her lead songs, and her debut album is expected to be a commercial hit. Tems is the first female Nigerian musician to win a Grammy Award in 2022, among her many other records in the country’s music business.
