Tobi Amusan, the current world champion and record holder, has qualified for the Women’s 100m Hurdles final at the World Athletics Championships for the third time in a row after winning her heat in 12.56s(-0.7). Ackera Nugent, who earned the second automatic position with a time of 12.60 seconds, finished behind the outstanding athlete from Nigeria.
Kendra Harrison, a former world record holder, won the first semifinal race in 12.33 seconds. Jasmine Camacho-Quinn won Heat 3 in 12.41 seconds, beating Nia Ali in 12.49 seconds. Amusan participated in challenging race in the National Athletics Centre in Budapest, Hungary, against NCAA champion Nugent, World Indoor Champion Cyréna Samba-Mayela, and Dutch Nadine Visser, among others. Amusan was authorized to defend her championship last week after the Athletics Integrity Unit appeals panel determined that she had not broken anti-doping regulations despite missing three whereabouts tests in a 12-month period, according to Punch.
After winning her 100m Hurdles heat in Budapest, the Ijebu Ode native led the rest of the field out in the semi-final on Wednesday.
