Tourism Council Boss Speaks On Alleged R33 Million Paid To Trevor Noah For Tourism Promotion Video

The drama continues over how much South African comedian Trevor Noah was paid to make an ad promoting tourism in South Africa.

It was initially stated that the government had paid the former The Daily Show host R33  million to make a post promoting tourism in South Africa. However, when the news made headlines. Trevor Noah erupted, stating that he was never paid such a sum.

He also didn’t say whether he was paid lower, or whether he received any payment at all. So it came as a big surprise to many South Africans when the video of him promoting South Africa came out after all. it elicited criticisms, with some South Africans pointing out that it did not exactly promote the country’s culture.

Since the video was eventually made, some South Africans believe he was paid the R33 million that was stated earlier. However, reacting to that, the CEO of the Tourism Business Council of South Africa, Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa, denied that Trevor Noah was paid R33 million for the gig.

He, however, failed to specify how much exactly the funnyman was paid. And with Trevor Noah himself saying nothing about that, South Africans are left wondering and obviously displeased.
