Two Life Sentences For Man Convicted Of Raping Child Twice

Ask many South Africana and they will tell you that rape is a common problem. It is emotionally ruinous, can lead people to the brink of suicide and can even rent families and relationships asunder.

The reality is morbid.

Rape cases are particularly traumatic when the rapist is someone a family trusted – someone who’d gotten close.

Well, this was exactly what played out in South Africa recently. A man- unnamed at the time of writing – has just been slammed with two life sentences for raping a child twice.

According to the parents, he had helped raise the child and was seen as a father figure to the said child. They, the parents, were accommodating, the said offender and he had to share a room with the child as a result of a lack of space.

Well, he decided to do what he had in mind, shattering whatever relationship he had built with the child’s parents in previous years.

The child reported the sexual assault to her parents, who reported the case to the authorities and the man was arrested.

By the way, South Africa is one of the countries where rape is pretty prevalent. It shares the same pedestal as gender-based violence in the country – pretty high.
